Né à Montréal en 1962, Daniel Barkley est titulaire d’une maîtrise en Beaux-arts de l’Université Concordia. Il a à son actif nombre d'expositions solos et collectives au Canada et au Etats-Unis, notamment à New-York, Sante-Fe, Toronto, Calgary et Montréal. En 2004, une exposition rétrospective fut présentée au Musée d’art contemporain des Laurentides et en 2007, c’est au tour du Hart House de l’université de Toronto de rassembler des œuvres ayant marquée sa carrière. Il était finaliste lors de la dernière édition du Prix Kingston, concours pan-canadien de portrait et depuis 2000, son travail à l’aquarelle fut aussi particulièrement primé à travers différents concours à l’échelle national, y compris la médaille A.J. Casson de la Société canadienne de peintres en d'aquarelle en 2002 et 2012.
Born in Montreal in 1962, Daniel Barkley holds a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University. His many solo and group exhibitions include shows across Canada and the United States (Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, New York, Santa-Fe, San Francisco, Mexico City...). In 2004, the Musée des arts contemporain des Laurentides hosted a retrospective of his works, and in 2007, University of Toronto's Justina M. Barnicke Gallery assembled and presented a collection of works defining his career to date. Recently, Barkley was short-listed for the Kingston Prize, Canada’s portrait competition; his watercolours have also won top prizes at national competitions, including the Canadian Society of Painters Watercolour’s A.J. Casson Medal 2002 and 2012.
